Release Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of Backblaze products and their software architecture.

• Take ownership of the software release lifecycle from development through to production. Automate these procedures to ensure safe, reliable, and repeatable code delivery.

• Develop and manage releases while establishing triggers for CI/CD pipelines.

• Utilize AI to identify gaps, improve workflows, and expedite deployments.

• Familiarize yourself with testing environments, staging processes, and automated testing to effectively coordinate releases with QA.

• Monitor issues and risks during releases, identify patterns, and work towards their mitigation.

• Document and record release processes and their updates.

• Comprehend change control processes and operate within Compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO, etc.). Create and maintain release notes.

• Participate in ongoing efforts to enhance the software development process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in managing releases, with expertise in deployment practices and a proven methodical approach.

• A problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset with the ability to take initiative.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript.

• Strong knowledge of Git, including branching strategies, tagging, and merging.

• Familiarity with build systems like Maven, Gradle, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

• Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance the release process.

• Understanding of cloud storage concepts and infrastructure.

• Knowledge of JIRA or other project and issue-tracking software.

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and a grasp of SDLC processes.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
