This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offer legal analysis and advisory services regarding federal and state mortgage lending laws and regulations.
• Lead and facilitate regulatory change management by tracking legal developments, interpreting requirements, and providing guidance on implementation strategies.
• Provide counsel on new and expanded business initiatives, products, and service lines.
• Evaluate regulatory risks and design compliant solutions.
• Conduct legal research and deliver actionable insights to business and compliance stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Senior Regulatory Counsel and teams in Compliance, Operations, Product, and Technology.
• Convert legal and regulatory requirements into operational controls within loan origination and compliance systems.
• Create and maintain internal compliance resources, including a Mavent Compliance Guide.
• Draft, review, and revise policies and procedures.
• Identify regulatory risks and compliance gaps, recommending mitigation strategies and process enhancements.
• Assist with internal audits, examinations, and regulatory inquiries by preparing necessary responses and documentation.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognized law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant legal or regulatory compliance experience in the banking or mortgage sectors, preferred.
• Experience providing advice on consumer mortgage lending laws and regulations, including TILA/Regulation Z, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, and relevant state laws.
• Background in supporting regulatory change management and/or product counseling within a financial services context.
• Familiarity with loan origination systems such as Encompass and compliance tools like Mavent, preferred.
• Strong analytical, issue-spotting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to deliver clear and concise legal guidance to a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Proficiency in interpreting complex legal requirements and translating them into practical, operationally sound business solutions.
