This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• This is a training role that necessitates enrollment in a Cancer Information Management Program, with an expected completion timeframe of 18 months from the date of hire and the achievement of CTR credentials.
• Shows a developing understanding and proficiency in follow-up, casefinding, suspense, and abstracting.
• Displays advancing competency in ICD-O coding, FORDS, Collaborative Staging, AJCC Staging, Multiple Primary & Histology Coding Rules, as well as Texas Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base reporting requirements.
• Exhibits a fundamental understanding of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Program Standards.
• Achieves all internal and external training objectives.
• Aids in the organization of cancer conferences.
• Completes the required competencies for the position within the specified introductory period.
• An Associate's Degree in an Allied Health related field from an accredited institution, with proof of enrollment in a National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) accredited Cancer Information Management program.
• One year of experience in Cancer Registry, Health Information Management, or another Allied Health field.
• Must have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• A minimum of two years of cancer registry experience is preferred.
• Must achieve Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification within 18 months of being hired or transferring into the department or position.
• Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credentials are preferred.
