Registered Nurse – GI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +18 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver daytime clinical coverage while participating in a rotating on-call support schedule as part of a four-RN team.

• Carry out both asynchronous and synchronous clinical triage via secure chat, TalkDesk phone calls, and EHR tasks.

• Spearhead urgent symptom escalation and manage 911 critical incident workflows.

• Perform clinical risk assessments, conduct C-SSRS screenings, and facilitate crisis stabilization along with appropriate routing.

• Assess acute GI complaints to determine outpatient directives or emergency referrals.

• Oversee, review, and clear a high volume of lab and imaging results in AthenaOne.

• Communicate normal results and After Visit Summary directives using standardized macros.

• Summarize abnormal findings for APP review.

• Educate patients and coordinate the logistics of specialized testing.

• Handle medication refills and pharmacy inquiries in accordance with standing orders and protocols.

• Address prescription submission, coverage, and prior authorization challenges.

• Support APP inboxes during periods of high administrative volume, out-of-office situations, and caseload surges.

• Review and prioritize patient cases, orders, and diagnostic results.

• Maintain documentation and communication logs for provider handoffs.

• Coordinate the routing of clinical and administrative messages with Care Coordinators.

• Collaborate with Registered Dietitians and Behavioral Health providers for multidisciplinary GI care.

• Represent nursing workflows in interdisciplinary meetings and quality reviews.

• Monitor inbox metrics to identify workflow bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the adoption of new technologies, lab-routing mechanisms, macros, and EHR updates.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active and unencumbered RN license.

• Willingness and ability to maintain multi-state licensure as necessitated by service line expansion.

• Experience in clinical triage, management of high-volume patient inboxes, or specialized GI nursing practice.

• Clinical expertise in IBD, IBS, H. pylori protocols, SIBO testing/education, elevated fecal calprotectin, and specialized lab monitoring.

• Capability to lead urgent symptom escalations and manage critical incident workflows, including 911 critical incidents and C-SSRS screenings.

• Proficiency in AthenaOne, Salesforce, Slack workflows, PagerDuty, and TalkDesk.

• Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities during peak periods and provider out-of-office coverage surges.

• Experience in telehealth operations, asynchronous patient messaging, and multi-channel call management platforms is preferred.

• Familiarity with adapting to new software integrations and updated standing orders is preferred.
