This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Engage with potential donors to perform discovery meetings, present gift planning proposals, and secure both planned and current gifts via estate plans, CRTs, CGAs, named endowments, QCDs, cash, properties, and other contributions.
• Foster and enhance the relationship between the ELCA Foundation, synods, and partner organizations. Build and expand partnerships with relevant regional ELCA affiliated institutions. Collaborate with partner organizations to identify gift planning prospects and participate in joint discovery meetings with partner gift officers.
• Develop and solicit ELCA affiliated institutions to invest in the Endowment Fund Pool Trust, while ensuring ongoing stewardship of these institutions.
• Assist congregations and ELCA related ministries in the establishment and promotion of planned giving programs.
• Oversee ongoing donor and organizational relationships as well as gift planning activities within CRM software, conducting regular reviews with the Director of Gift Planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent blend of experience and education.
• Background in resource development, planned giving, financial/estate planning, sales, or a related field, along with a strong understanding of the development process and planned giving tools.
• Dedication to upholding best practices in fundraising and development, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interview potential donors about their ministry passions and available assets, present proposals, and solicit planned gifts.
• Capability to utilize a constituent information system as a fundamental part of the moves management strategy.
• Ability to work independently from home, maintaining self-discipline and organization to maximize effectiveness.
• Appreciation for the mission, vision, and values of the ELCA.

• Minimum Technical Competency: Proficiency in operating a Windows computer and following basic troubleshooting procedures. Software skills necessary to effectively use computer programs and applications. Ability to apply computer knowledge and software skills to understand new software, adhere to processes, and identify areas for improvement. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.) is preferred.
