This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +3 more states.
• Lead the management of fleet programs across multiple states, ensuring that fleet priorities align with operational needs and the overall enterprise fleet strategy.
• Oversee and mentor remote Fleet Coordinators, Technicians, and Mechanics, including setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and fostering professional development.
• Take responsibility for the success of the preventative maintenance program and drive the achievement of compliance targets.
• Develop, manage, and enhance sustainable processes and workflows that promote best-in-class fleet practices.
• Ensure that all necessary asset inspections are up to date and that maintenance files comply with regulatory and company standards.
• Supervise fleet excess yards, focusing on asset security, inventory accuracy, availability of ready-reserve, growth, and reallocation needs.
• Handle regional capital expense processes, which include submitting capital requests and completing asset retirement packages.
• Assist in strategic planning and tactical execution of the enterprise fleet plan.
• Conduct regular field visits to assess quality, compliance, and service provided by both internal teams and third-party vendors.
• Engage in asset build specifications and work with stakeholders to promote safety, innovation, and operational efficiency.
• Manage relationships with outside vendors in the region, conduct quarterly business reviews, assess value and performance, and implement corrective action plans as required.
• Present actionable fleet information in Operations meetings and act as the regional fleet partner for Operations and Corporate teams.
• Function as the DOT subject matter expert for Operations within the designated region.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience related to fleet management, including overseeing fleet programs.
• A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in managing employees, including multiple remote direct reports.
• Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.
• Experience in creating and delivering training programs.
• A valid driver’s license and eligibility to operate company vehicles.
• Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to manage shifting priorities.
• Ability to establish productive relationships, negotiate effectively, and resolve conflicts with both internal and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the capability to present complex information clearly.
• Competence in developing and administering a regional fleet expense budget and interpreting financial reports.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
• Preferred: Experience in managing a large fleet of construction or utility service vehicles.
• Preferred: Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Preferred: Familiarity with JD Edwards or another Fleet Management Information System.
