This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the installation and management of equipment at Land Ports of Entry, airports, and Border Patrol sites.
• Supervise electrical contractors responsible for modifications both inside and outside the plant site.
• Monitor and record the progress of work.
• Conduct troubleshooting until resolution is achieved.
• Recognize installation challenges and risks, and devise solutions for complex issues.
• Maintain a comprehensive technical understanding of the solutions implemented.
• Comply with IT security, physical security, and operational security protocols.
• Operate in field conditions in all weather without direct supervision.
• Provide emergency support for non-deployment repair tasks across six local San Diego Ports of Entry.
• Foster relationships and build trust with Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents.
• Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience as a Deployment Manager or in a comparable role; additional years of experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the capability to secure a CBP Public Trust clearance.
• Current residency in the San Diego area is required.
• Knowledge of basic construction techniques related to inside/outside plant cabling and proficiency in reading construction documents.
• Strong grasp of fundamental Project Management principles.
• Excellent time-management abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Familiarity with mobile tools and applications.
• Basic understanding of low voltage electrical wiring principles.
• Technical expertise in CAT 6 and coaxial signal cabling, including testing and termination processes.
• Proficient in single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling, along with testing, termination, and splicing.
• Experience with LED video displays and digital billboards is beneficial.
• Management experience with subcontractors is preferred.
• A strong understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is highly desired.
• Active DHS Public Trust clearance is highly preferred.
• Must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance prior to commencement of employment.
• Completion of a drug screen is required as part of the CBP Background Investigation prior to starting.
• Mileage will be reimbursed at the current government rate.
• A substantial toolkit to assist with installation and maintenance tasks will be provided.
