• Create and execute a communications strategy that aligns with MEDA's priorities, requirements, and project visibility goals.
• Provide guidance to leadership and project teams regarding messaging, positioning, audience targeting, and considerations for reputation management.
• Ensure all communications adhere to corporate brand standards while being appropriately tailored to the specific project context.
• Assist the ESA Program Portfolio by developing donor-focused communications products, visibility materials, briefing notes, and engagement content.
• Confirm that communications outputs highlight project priorities such as the inclusion of women and youth, resilience, market-systems change, and partnership-driven impact.
• Offer advice on communication strategies for high-profile or politically sensitive initiatives and stakeholder interactions.
• Produce and/or supervise the creation of impact stories, human-interest content, briefs, digital materials, and thought-leadership resources.
• Ensure that all content is culturally appropriate, suitable for donors, aligned with the brand, and based on credible evidence.
• Collaborate with technical and project teams to transform complex implementation and results information into easily understandable communications products.
• Oversee proactive and reactive media engagement, stakeholder communications, and visibility support for events.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with relevant external stakeholders, partners, and communications counterparts.
• Represent MEDA at events, engagements, and gatherings as necessary.
• Manage consultants and communications budgets effectively.
• Assess the effectiveness of communication efforts.
• Generate performance reports.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff and interns when applicable.
• Master’s degree along with a professional qualification.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in public engagement and/or communications.
• At least 3 years of experience in the region.
• Background in international development, NGOs, or foundations.
• Expertise in strategic messaging and communication strategy development.
• Experience in media relations within Francophone and Anglophone Africa.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French (language requirements may vary based on the region).
• Proficiency in Portuguese is an added advantage.
• Opportunities for occasional international travel.
