React Native Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain functionalities for the Restaurant tablet mobile application utilizing React Native and TypeScript.

• Create and implement reusable components and business logic that adhere to architectural standards.

• Integrate with REST APIs and manage real-time data through WebSockets and Pusher.

• Write and uphold unit and component tests.

• Identify and resolve defects by analyzing errors and crashes in Sentry.

• Engage in code reviews and ensure a clean, consistent codebase.

• Take part in the release cycle, including delivering over-the-air updates via CodePush.

• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams in a distributed, asynchronous environment.

• Contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle, from designing new features to release and production support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated commercial experience in building React Native applications deployed to production.

• Proficient in configuring and managing releases with Fastlane, App Store/TestFlight, Google Play, and Firebase App Distribution.

• Strong TypeScript expertise, encompassing strict mode, generics, robust typing, and typed Redux.

• Comprehensive understanding of React and its ecosystem, including hooks, state management, performance, and re-render optimization.

• Practical experience with Redux Toolkit, including createSlice, createAsyncThunk, and selectors.

• Experience integrating REST APIs using Axios and managing asynchronous operations.

• Familiarity with real-time data handling using WebSockets and/or Pusher.

• Strong debugging capabilities across JavaScript and native logs.

• Experience with error-monitoring tools like Sentry.

• Proven experience writing automated tests using Jest and React Native Testing Library.

• Proficient with Git and conducting code reviews.

• Experience with CodePush/OTA updates is a plus.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions is an advantage.

• Familiarity with developing native modules and working with Android Kotlin/Java, Gradle, iOS Swift/Objective-C, and CocoaPods is beneficial.

• Experience with Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance, and Remote Config is a bonus.

• Knowledge of OAuth2/Keycloak and secure storage solutions like Keychain is advantageous.

• Experience with end-to-end testing using Detox is a plus.

• Familiarity with integrating hardware such as receipt/thermal printers, maps, and peripheral devices is beneficial.
