React Native Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of, uphold, and expand a unified React Native codebase designed for mobile (iOS, Android) and television platforms (tvOS, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV).

• Create and execute durable user interfaces and navigation systems specifically optimized for 10-foot TV experiences, emphasizing strict focus management and D-pad (remote control) navigation.

• Develop, enhance, and sustain high-performance video playback engines utilizing HLS and DASH streaming protocols.

• Ensure secure premium content workflows by setting up and troubleshooting Digital Rights Management (DRM) systems, including Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady.

• Incorporate and manage video ad insertion protocols, particularly dealing with VAST, VMAP, and Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) to guarantee smooth ad delivery on larger screens.

• Oversee the complete submission, compliance, and release cycle for both mobile app stores (App Store, Google Play) and TV marketplaces, with a focused understanding of Amazon Fire OS submission guidelines.

• Uphold high standards of JavaScript/TypeScript code quality, ensuring performance optimization tailored to the hardware limitations of TV streaming devices and older smart TV technology.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in React Native, with a strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Proven experience in deploying React Native applications on tvOS, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV platforms, with a clear understanding of Fire OS submission processes.

• Demonstrate at least one successful application launch on the App Store or Google Play, whether for mobile or television devices.

• Possess a thorough technical knowledge of video streaming technologies like HLS and DASH, as well as DRM systems including Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady.

• Bring practical experience in digital advertising integration, particularly with VAST, VMAP, and SSAI protocols.
