This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +9 more states.
• Work collaboratively with Directors focusing on Rail Bridges, Railway and Civil, Public Projects, and Rail Construction.
• Opportunity to play a pivotal role in local, regional, or national rail initiatives.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention processes, performance management, and staff development.
• Support business development efforts and utilize relationships to expand the client base and secure future projects.
• Analyze the backlog of regional rail & transit practices and maintain a forecast of staffing requirements.
• Conduct workforce analysis and resource management to assess skills, experience, competencies, and training needs.
• Oversee staff utilization management by scheduling, monitoring, and adjusting assignments; creating and overseeing departmental budgets; providing leadership and guidance through mentoring and motivating staff on areas like performance feedback, financial management, and client relations; and addressing personnel issues such as marginal performance, policy interpretations, and succession planning.
• A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline is essential.
• A minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience is required.
• Experience should encompass some familiarity with working alongside a Class I, Amtrak, regional or local rail and transit agency, including planning, rail bridge, track, construction management, project management, or other related fields.
• A Professional Engineering (PE) License is preferred.
• Must be capable of qualifying to be a Project Manager and manage projects for clients within the market/office where they are based.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
• Ability to leverage existing connections and client relationships to identify and/or secure new rail & transit projects.
• Proficient in networking and influencing at peer levels.
• Knowledge and experience with Oracle-based (or similar) resource and financial management systems.
• A solid foundation in ownership, initiative, and commitment to delivering high-quality engineering services and client outcomes.
