This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• The Operator reports directly to the Field Manager. In the Field Manager's absence, the Operator will report to the alternate Field Manager or, as a last resort, to the Manager of UT RFD Services. The Operator will operate under the guidance of the Chief Operator.
• The Operator will assist the Chief Operator in identifying rail defects according to established standards.
• The Operator will maintain a professional demeanor towards colleagues, customers, and the general public, reflecting a positive image of the company.
• The Operator shall ensure adherence to all railroad and highway safety protocols, as well as operating procedures, applying these to the best of their abilities.
• The Operator is expected to be accountable, professional, and prioritize safety and quality above all else.
• The Operator should be adaptable to changes in the workplace and implement directives according to established standards.
• The Operator must follow and execute instructions provided in reference materials and customer playbooks.
• The Operator will collaborate with the Chief Operator to uphold high maintenance standards, ensuring cleanliness and 5S practices for both the interior and exterior of trucks.
• The Operator will complete all necessary documentation, including but not limited to e-log reports, maintenance reports, trip reports, fuel reports, etc.
• The Operator shall conduct Pre and Post-trip maintenance daily, which includes checking the carriage, hyrail, and truck, regularly greasing, lubing, tightening bolts, and replacing worn parts under the supervision of the Chief Operator.
• The Operator will verify the validity of any IFTA Sticker registration and insurance, reporting to the Field Manager as instructed.
• The Operator is responsible for the vehicle and its maintenance.
• The Operator will ensure that Logbooks, DOT papers, including Timesheets, are accurately maintained.
• The Operator must comply with all DOT regulations, including hours of service regulations.
• The Operator will mentor, train, and support new employees and Operators to foster a positive work environment.
• The Operator should strive to keep controlled expenses as low as possible.
• The Operator will complete weekly expense reports, timesheets, inventory, and assess the general condition of the truck (including current and preventive repairs).
• The Operator understands that the truck should be parked at the same lodging location as the Chief Operator each night unless otherwise specified.
• The Operator may perform additional job duties as assigned.
• An excellent safety record is essential.
• Knowledge of computer programs, electrical systems, and mechanical concepts is advantageous.
• A valid driver’s license Class A or B with Air Brake endorsement is required.
• Continuous compliance with company and DOT Driving Standards is mandatory.
• The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required; mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting knowledge is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, and Concur is necessary.
• The ability to manage costs and make adjustments as needed is important.
• The candidate must be a team player, willing to take any necessary steps to ensure customer satisfaction in a safe and ethical manner.
• The ability to drive quality performance is critical.
• Strong customer relationship skills are essential.
• A high level of maturity and punctuality is expected.
• The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to safety, accountability, and a professional image and attitude.
