This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Assign ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedure codes for outpatient specialty services.
• Abstract data elements following established standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Detect incomplete or missing documentation and escalate issues for resolution.
• Ensure that codes represent the highest specificity supported by provider documentation.
• Address billing edits and resolve claim denials.
• Communicate any coding-related issues that affect timely claim processing.
• Carry out coding responsibilities to support Coding Operations and meet Service Level Agreements.
• Achieve or surpass productivity and quality benchmarks.
• Maintain necessary credentials and memberships.
• Must be a resident of California, Nevada, or Texas.
• High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience; equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of the required diploma or degree.
• CCS-Certified Coding Specialist certification is required at the time of hire.
• Must be ROCC certified: Radiation Oncology Certified Coder.
• At least 1 year of recent relevant experience is required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, disease processes, patient health record content, and medical record coding is essential.
• Proficiency in computer-based encoder systems and accurate data entry is required.
• Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology is necessary.
• Understanding of billing functions and components of the charge description master is preferred.
• General knowledge of Revenue Cycle applications, including Electronic Health Record systems.
• Experience with coding functions in both acute and non-acute settings.
• Knowledge of Patient Management information system applications is needed.
• Ability to utilize spreadsheet, word processing, statistical, project management, and presentation software, preferably within the Microsoft Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
