This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and spearhead the technical strategy for enhancing software quality within our engineering organization, transitioning from a QA-as-gatekeeper model to one of shared ownership.
• Evaluate our existing QA processes, including test automation, manual testing practices, release validation, and tooling, and create a practical roadmap for achieving successive levels of maturity.
• Recommend and implement tools, workflows, and practices to integrate quality into the agentic Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Establish a long-term vision for quality management that minimizes handoffs and empowers development pods to function autonomously.
• Collaborate closely with product development leadership, SGRC, QA, and performance testing teams to ensure alignment of quality management practices with business risk, regulatory requirements, and delivery objectives.
• Define, monitor, and report on metrics that will inform decision-making, such as coverage and defect escape rates.
• Develop a modern test pyramid with clear definitions, ownership, and objectives for unit, integration, contract, end-to-end, exploratory, and production validation layers, as well as specialized considerations such as performance and security.
• Enhance the reliability, speed, maintainability, and signal quality of our automated test suites; guide the appropriate use of existing tools while identifying opportunities for improvement, replacement, or supplementation.
• Formulate strategies for test data management (seed, synthetic, and production-like sets), environment reliability, contract testing, service virtualization, synthetic monitoring, and automated smoke testing.
• Identify opportunities to utilize agentic AI in test generation and scenario discovery, and design workflows and skills for multi-agent analysis of generated code.
• Develop risk-based quality gates that are automated where feasible and integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Enhance sandbox and production smoke testing processes so that post-deployment validation is faster, more automated, and more reliable, supporting a swift rollback strategy when necessary.
• Work with teams to define what “ready to release” signifies for various types of changes, services, and risk profiles.
• Provide technical guidance to QA engineers, software engineers, and engineering leads.
• Instruct on modern quality engineering practices through pairing, workshops, documentation, architecture reviews, and practical examples.
• Foster buy-in and instigate change across teams by demonstrating tangible improvements instead of enforcing abstract process changes.
• Help nurture a culture where quality is broadly owned by engineering, bolstered by QA expertise, and integrated throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Approach transformations with empathy, particularly for team members whose current roles and responsibilities will evolve.
• Over 7 years of hands-on experience in a software development environment, ideally with a strong focus on quality management. Familiarity with Ruby and Go codebases is a significant advantage.
• Extensive experience with agentic software development workflows, skill development, prompt engineering, and supporting tools.
• Proficient in Git and branch management workflows (trunk-based, git-flow, etc.); practical experience with GitLab for CI/CD is highly preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills; proven ability to build consensus and influence across teams by considering multiple perspectives and developing balanced solutions.
• Strong commitment to data-driven decision-making—capable of formulating and testing hypotheses effectively while continually adjusting strategy based on new insights; defining, tracking, and reporting on clear KPIs/OKRs.
• Experience leading transformational projects and effectively managing change, ideally in sensitive, high-complexity environments with significant compliance or regulatory obligations.
• Competitive salary and benefits package that includes growth-company options grant.
• Fast-paced and professional work culture.
• Stock options with standard startup vesting—1 year cliff; 4 years total.
• $50 monthly communication expense stipend to assist with your phone/internet bill.
• $250 stipend to enhance your work-from-home setup.
• Reimbursement for peripheral equipment: monitor (up to $400), keyboard, and mouse (up to $200).
• Premium medical benefits, including vision and dental (100% coverage for employees).
• Company-sponsored life and disability insurance.
• Paid parental bonding leave.
• Paid sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave.
• 401k plan.
• Flexible Time Off (our team members typically take off approximately 3-4 weeks per year).
• Volunteer Time Off.
• 13 scheduled holidays.
