QA Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Review the existing Java API test suite and determine which elements to retain, retire, or downgrade.

• Supervise the AI-assisted transition of tests to Go and Gonkey while ensuring essential checks remain intact.

• Address coverage gaps in line with the test pyramid, focusing on scenarios where financial risk is present.

• Assist each team in defining and documenting their own test strategy and pyramid, and conduct reviews of these documents.

• Provide guidance to team leads and automation engineers on testing decisions influenced by risk and cost considerations.

• Manage regression planning, allocate checks, and report on progress.

• Ensure the stability of daily and nightly test runs by resolving flaky tests and assigning ownership and deadlines for failures.

• Lead the investigation of cross-team defects and facilitate their reproduction and resolution.

• Create shared QA standards and tools, including ReportPortal, TMS, and formats for test cases and bug reports.

• Integrate AI into routine testing processes, with agents generating tests and engineers performing reviews.

• Conduct a biweekly QA synchronization meeting.

• Mentor engineers and assist manual QAs in transitioning to automation roles.

• Enhance UI test automation efforts.

• Collaborate with the Payment Integrations team of FinteqHub's payment orchestration platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior or Lead-level experience in test automation, particularly with a strong emphasis on API testing.

• Developed a test strategy and pyramid from the ground up for multiple products.

• Proven ability to influence testing practices across several teams.

• Excellent test design skills, deriving coverage from requirements and specifications.

• Knowledge of when unit testing is adequate and when to implement end-to-end testing.

• Capability to align teams and make decisions without formal authority.

• Experience in mentoring others.

• Proficient in writing tests in various languages and frameworks, with a quick learning ability for new tools.

• Competence in reading Java sufficiently to audit and migrate an existing test suite.

• Strong understanding of REST/HTTP, JSON, and API contract testing.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, PostgreSQL, and any messaging broker.

• Familiarity with CI pipelines, investigating service failures through logs, metrics, and databases, and stabilizing flaky tests.

• Regular use of AI in QA tasks, including generating tests from specifications, converting tests between languages, analyzing failures, and code reviews.

• At least an Intermediate level of English proficiency.

• Native-level fluency in Russian.

• Proficiency in Go is a significant advantage.

• Experience with TypeScript and Playwright.

• Experience in migrating a test suite from one technology stack to another.

• Experience in developing AI-based tools or agents for QA functions.

• Mobile testing experience, including the use of BrowserStack.

• Background in fintech or payment systems.

• Familiarity with API testing tools.
