This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assess and strategize timelines and milestone deliveries, ensuring that focus testing is conducted at the designated times for each title.
• Develop and execute thorough test plans and review bug reports for any defects or design concerns identified during testing.
• Organize and facilitate internal focus testing sessions in partnership with production teams.
• Act as the primary liaison and oversee external partners to coordinate testing and playtesting for all studio projects.
• Cultivate the QA team by managing performance evaluations and career development opportunities.
• Oversee work distribution and contributions within the team to meet Bad Robot Games' quality standards.
• Take ownership of QA objectives, milestones, and craft standards across all studio initiatives.
• Collaborate with studio leadership to define and enhance the overall quality benchmarks.
• Establish and advocate for QA best practices, documentation protocols, and onboarding processes as the studio expands.
• Provide regular updates to executive stakeholders on quality status, potential risks, and team capacity.
• Partner with Production to grasp priorities and recommend or set timelines.
• Directly participate in the testing and verification of builds.
• Communicate and interact with leadership regarding testing progress and any obstacles encountered.
• Validate builds for use in daily playtests, Friends & Family sessions, and various internal and external phases or events.
• Utilize Jira on a daily basis to assign bugs, generate reports and dashboards, delegate tasks, communicate across disciplines, and ensure smooth testing operations.
• Resolve technical issues with other disciplines as needed.
• Create measurable and adaptable methods to track work in progress and monitor bug resolution speed.
• Assist with development kit setup and bug replication on PlayStation and PC platforms.
• Be available to work outside normal hours when necessary to support milestone and release schedules.
• A minimum of 8 years of QA experience in the gaming industry, including at least one AAA title shipped with a credit as QA Lead, QA Manager, or an equivalent role.
• Extensive expertise in Jira, including reports, dashboards, workflows, and cross-disciplinary communication.
• Practical experience with Unreal Engine, encompassing knowledge of its build pipeline and debugging tools.
• Proven track record of testing on PlayStation and PC platforms, including familiarity with platform certification and submission processes.
• Experience with PlayStation certification (TRC) processes and submission workflows.
• Background in hiring, mentoring, and managing QA team members at various levels.
• Experience in collaborating with production teams and establishing QA best practices at either the team or studio level.
• Capability to scale testing environments and processes within a fully remote studio context.
• Strong grasp of testing methodologies, including functional, automation, end-to-end, accessibility, and performance testing in relation to iterative development cycles.
• Familiarity with black box, white box, and cross-platform testing methodologies.
• Experience in drafting test plans and recognizing gaps in test coverage.
• Knowledge of certification, functional, and usability testing processes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise across a multidisciplinary team.
• All positions require up to 10% air travel. This may include Studio/Team Offsites, Team/Studio Events, and more.
