This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the complete QA strategy, which includes the test pyramid, coverage targets, release gates, and ownership expectations across our web applications, encompassing modern JavaScript / TypeScript applications and existing WordPress sites.
• Develop and manage automated test suites: end-to-end (E2E) / UI automation utilizing Playwright or an equivalent solution.
• Incorporate testing into our CI/CD pipeline: implementing PR gating with quick smoke checks, scheduled regression tests, and validation for release branches.
• Define the strategy for test data and environments, including fixtures, seeding, mocks versus real services, stable test accounts, and parallelization.
• Implement performance and load testing using tools like k6, Artillery, or JMeter, establish baselines, and collaborate with engineering teams to address bottlenecks across frontend, API, database, and infrastructure.
• Define and promote the quality ownership model among dynamic engineering pods, including the QA-buddy pattern, and mentor developers in writing testable code.
• Conduct targeted manual and exploratory testing for UX validation and edge cases; document risks and provide go/no-go recommendations.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in QA and test automation for modern web applications, with proven ownership or lead-level responsibilities.
• Extensive experience with Playwright or a similar end-to-end testing framework.
• Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript to effectively build and maintain automation frameworks, helpers, fixtures, and CI integrations.
• Strong understanding of front-end technologies: browser behavior, DOM and network debugging, authentication and session flows, caching, and reliable selector strategies.
• Familiarity with back-end concepts, including REST APIs, request and response debugging, and database knowledge for test setup and validation.
• Experience in API testing using tools like Postman or Swagger, along with code-driven checks.
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and Git-based workflows, such as GitHub Actions.
• Proven ability to work independently — setting priorities, building systems, and achieving results without a pre-defined backlog.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to bring clarity in ambiguous situations.
• Must be a U.S. resident and authorized to work without sponsorship.
• Remote work — the flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S.
• Unlimited paid time off — performance-based flexibility.
• 401(k) plan with employer matching.
• Comprehensive health coverage — medical, dental, and vision plans.
• Paid opportunities for professional development.
