This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.
• Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to meet revenue objectives for renewals, new sales, and Open Access agreements.
• Provide regional insights to enhance the APS publishing strategy within the area by advising management on new trends, opportunities, potential threats, risks, competing priorities, and other relevant issues.
• Deliver prompt and precise customer data, pricing recommendations, and prospecting information in accordance with established plans.
• Regularly engage with customers to offer product training, updates, and negotiation assistance.
• Facilitate the timely procurement of documents, certifications, and other necessary requirements from customers to finalize agreements.
• Ensure that pricing and licensing conditions comply with APS policies, targets, and strategic objectives in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Utilize Salesforce and other business systems to identify opportunities, prepare quotes, finalize licensing agreements, document sales visits and customer information, and perform other essential tasks.
• Participate in sales meetings and conferences as needed to build strong relationships and gain insight into the regional business landscape and challenges.
• Exhibit professional behavior in line with APS core values to enhance visibility and improve the perception of the APS and Physical Review brands among customers and within the broader scientific and scholarly communication communities.
• A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or five years of relevant work experience in licensing, sales, scholarly publications, and customer acquisition services may be considered.
• At least 7 years of experience in institutional sales and licensing of scholarly publications and products, ideally in the physical sciences or other STEM fields.
• Proficient in advanced data analysis, CRM systems, and pipeline management.
• Experience in managing sales across Western U.S. and LATAM regions.
• Proven ability to support territory sales representatives.
• Extensive knowledge of scholarly communication, academic library markets, research community trends, and current dynamics within the journal publishing sector.
• Strong understanding of the publishing industry, society-owned journals/associations, and the value-added scholarly journals/associations and scientific enterprise.
• Well-versed in Open Access knowledge and publishing trends.
• Highly self-motivated, with a strong focus on achieving results.
• Demonstrated proficiency in relationship building, negotiations, and customer service.
• Excellent project management capabilities, including project oversight, time management, and sound decision-making.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within interdepartmental teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to adapt and maintain flexibility in response to shifting priorities.
