Public Affairs Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Establish and nurture strong, trust-based connections with editors, reporters, and bureau chiefs from top national and business media outlets (print, digital, broadcast).

• Act as a primary contact for media, overseeing proactive pitches, reactive inquiries, and crisis communication efforts.

• Create and implement a comprehensive media engagement strategy that aligns with the company's business goals and public policy stance.

• Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in policy and industry circles to enhance the sector’s representation in public discussions.

• Develop and oversee a detailed thought leadership calendar that includes Op-Eds, bylined articles, expert commentary, and panel discussions.

• Write and refine articles, opinion pieces, and speeches for senior leadership.

• Identify and secure speaking engagements, panel participations, and media appearances for company spokespersons at industry events, conclaves, and policy forums.

• Monitor regulatory and policy changes relevant to the company's sector and convert them into strategic communication opportunities.

• Collaborate with internal teams to create messaging frameworks on policy and regulatory issues.

• Work in close partnership with Public Policy colleagues on whitepapers, policy strategies, memos, and more.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately 6 - 8 years of progressive experience in Journalism, PR, or public affairs.

• Proven history of crafting pitches, securing story placements, Op-Eds, and expert commentary in Tier 1 publications.

• Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.

• Experience in managing media during sensitive or high-stakes situations, including regulatory announcements, crises, or public scrutiny.

• Strong comprehension of India's media landscape, newsroom operations, and editorial cycles.

• Previous Journalism experience is advantageous.

• Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.
