Protection and Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee electrical engineering design tasks on designated projects

• Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow electrical engineers within the High Voltage/Power team

• Collaborate with Project Engineer and Project Manager to create design timelines and budgets for electrical engineering initiatives

• Conduct power system studies and coordinate system protection settings across various projects

• Produce basis of design documentation regarding protection settings and relay configurations

• Assist projects throughout construction, start-up, and commissioning phases

• Evaluate engineering work completed by colleagues

• Participate in client meetings

• Some travel to client and/or project locations may be required

• Guide early career engineers and lead internal training sessions upon request

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• 6 years of pertinent experience in electrical engineering

• 6 years of relevant experience in protection and controls

• Professional Engineering licensure is preferred

• 8+ years of experience with at least 2 years in a project lead role is preferred

• Familiarity with FERC and NERC requirements is preferred

• Experience with IEC61850 is preferred

• Proficiency in power systems analysis software (SKM, EasyPower, Etap) is preferred

• Relay coordination experience using ASPEN OneLiner is preferred

• Background in developing native relay setting files is preferred

• Experience with distribution automation is preferred

• Experience in collaborative 3D modeling environments is preferred
