Protection and Control Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Serve as the technical lead for all engineering-related activities in various assignments.

• Ensure that all engineering disciplines within projects are executed efficiently and within budget.

• Act as the design authority for a specific engineering discipline.

• Complete assigned engineering tasks as required.

• Direct and assist in engineering design initiatives for both new and existing utility, industrial, and commercial substation protection & control/automation systems.

• Plan, coordinate, and implement new designs as well as retrofit projects.

• Create engineering documentation and conduct analyses, which include schematics, logic diagrams, layouts, bills of materials, reports, and calculations.

• Oversee project materials and construction design packages.

• Resolve any technical challenges that arise.

• Communicate updates and provide support to project teams, management, partners, and customers.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company/customer requirements.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on various projects.

• Engage in training programs to maintain technical expertise.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in protection & control projects for utility clients.

• Capability to read, accurately interpret, and utilize electrical one-lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.

• Proficiency in software applications such as Easy Power, SKM Powertools, ETAP, Aspen, and EMTP.

• A PE License in California is required.

• Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.
