This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Manage first-party property claims of moderate complexity and severity.
• Investigate, assess, estimate, and negotiate claims related to personal or business property.
• Conduct field inspections, including assessing damage, taking photographs, and creating written or computer-assisted estimates.
• Utilize innovative technologies and estimating tools related to Xactimate.
• Examine coverage, damages, liability, business interruption calculations, leases, contracts, by-laws, and other pertinent documents.
• Obtain recorded or written statements when necessary.
• Set up timely and precise claim and expense reserves.
• Calculate settlement amounts utilizing estimates, actual cash value, replacement cost, contractor estimate validation, appraisals, limits, deductibles, and independent adjuster outputs.
• Negotiate settlements with contractors, representatives of insured parties, and other stakeholders within authorized limits.
• Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other complex correspondence.
• Maintain claim diaries and document file activities along with required data.
• Oversee file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases and adherence to state regulations.
• Offer customer service to insured clients, agents, and both internal and external business partners.
• Refer claims to Special Investigations, Subrogation, and Major Case Units as necessary.
• Provide multiline claim handling support for Auto, Workers Compensation, General Liability, and other business sectors.
• Mentor and guide less experienced claims professionals as needed.
• Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials, and other legal proceedings as required.
• Engage in Travelers’ Catastrophe Response Program, including out-of-state deployments.
• Conduct rotational resolution desk technical duties and follow-up call work.
• Carry out administrative tasks such as managing expense accounts and reporting time off.
• Perform other assigned duties.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of previous experience in handling outside property claims or successful completion of the Travelers Outside Claim Representative training program.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• Two or more years of experience in outside property claim handling.
• General knowledge of the estimating system Xactimate.
• Advanced interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
• Advanced organizational and time management skills.
• Intermediate ability to work independently.
• Intermediate judgment, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Intermediate negotiation skills.
• Intermediate written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Intermediate investigative skills.
• Intermediate capacity to analyze and determine coverage.
• Intermediate ability to analyze and evaluate damages.
• Intermediate ability to resolve claims within the scope of settlement authority.
• Valid passport.
• Valid driver's license.
• Capability to access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure.
• Ability to carry, set up, and climb a ladder weighing between 38 to 49 pounds.
• Ability to walk on roofs and navigate tight spaces, including attic staircases, entries, and crawl spaces.
• Must participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, including deployments lasting a minimum of 16 days.
• Must obtain and maintain a company credit card.
• Insurance license(s) and/or UAS Remote Pilot Certification may be necessary; required insurance license(s) must be secured within three months of starting the role.
• Continuing education requirements for insurance license(s) must be fulfilled.
