This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead and execute bridge and structural engineering projects from initial pursuit through to construction, which includes developing proposals (scope, schedule, budget) and conducting client interviews.
• Establish and nurture robust relationships with clients, agency partners, and consulting teams throughout Northern and Central California.
• Oversee multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate efforts with civil, survey, environmental, and construction stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor engineers in the development of PS&E packages, technical studies, reports, calculations, and accompanying documentation.
• Conduct and evaluate bridge analysis and design utilizing bridge-specific finite element and section analysis software.
• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes and standards, including AASHTO LRFD and seismic design criteria.
• Provide construction support services, which encompass site visits, addressing RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
• Lead bridge inspection and preventative maintenance initiatives when applicable.
• Articulate complex technical concepts effectively in both written and verbal forms, representing the firm with professionalism.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, workloads, and performance metrics across multiple concurrent projects.
• A B.S. in Civil Engineering is mandatory, while an M.S. in Structural Engineering is desirable.
• A California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is essential.
• At least 12 years of progressive experience in bridge and structural design as well as project management.
• A strong grasp of bridge design codes, seismic principles, and construction methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing clients, and delivering complex capital projects.
• Physical Demands: Must be capable of regularly talking, hearing, and using a computer, keyboard, and mouse, with occasional lifting, pulling/pushing, and carrying up to 20 pounds, with accommodations.
• Work Conditions: May experience constant or intermittent sounds at low to moderate levels typical of an office environment. Exposure to a high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites might be required.
• The typical base salary range for this role is $140,000.00 - $205,000.00 annually, based on skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salaried position paid biweekly.
