This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct and oversee environmental investigations, including soil and groundwater remediation, soil gas assessments, and indoor air evaluations, for a diverse clientele facing intricate technical and regulatory challenges.
• Engage with clients and regulatory bodies such as the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Toxic Substances Control, the Regional Water Quality Control Board, and local Environmental Health agencies.
• Draft and assess remedial documents and reports, including feasibility studies, remedial and/or corrective action plans, remedial design documents, and reports on remedial progress and completion.
• Develop and negotiate remediation strategies for contaminated soil and groundwater.
• Oversee the creation of maps and plans in digital format utilizing GIS technology.
• Maintain chemical, stratigraphic, and other relevant data, and extract information to create various representations, such as time-series graphs.
• Perform statistical analyses of groundwater data, including trend evaluations, intra-well comparisons, and inter-well comparisons.
• Coordinate fieldwork investigations for client projects, including the scheduling and supervision of utility locating, excavation, and drilling contractors.
• Support the mentorship and training of junior staff in field procedures, data management, and GIS production.
• Meet or exceed client expectations regarding scope, budget, and timeline.
• Analyze sample results and prepare tables and figures for technical documentation.
• Write and evaluate proposals.
• Mentor, train, and supervise scientific personnel to ensure high-quality work outputs.
• Guarantee that project tasks are performed safely while upholding the quality and integrity of work and data.
• Actively pursue personal career development opportunities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a closely related field, including the completion of a field course of study.
• Over 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, including conducting subsurface investigations, writing technical reports, and utilizing GIS for digital mapping.
• Experience in groundwater sampling employing various techniques, including low-flow sampling.
• California PG license is required.
• Proficient in conducting stratigraphic logging using diverse drilling methods, potentially including hollow-stem auger, direct-push, air rotary, and rock coring.
• 40-hour OSHA certification and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher are mandatory.
• Capability to interact effectively with clients, regulatory entities, field staff, technical personnel, and subcontractors.
• Proficient in drafting project work plans, health and safety plans, traffic control plans, and erosion control plans.
• Ability to mentor, train, and manage team members.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential.
• A solid commitment to safety, a good safety record, and a thorough understanding of safe work practices.
