This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and mentor Project Engineers while actively contributing as a hands-on technical expert across various BESS projects.
• Cultivate relationships with Owner’s Engineers, Engineers of Record, and Independent Engineers, including supervising TEI/IE diligence activities.
• Deliver direct technical guidance by evaluating designs, proposals, and engineering documents, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as alignment with project scope, constructability, and schedule requirements.
• Propel engineering execution by engaging in project meetings, validating design foundations, and addressing technical challenges in collaboration with project managers, construction managers, and development engineering teams.
• Oversee commissioning processes by coordinating engineering deliverables, addressing technical challenges during energization and testing, and confirming that the BESS system satisfies performance, safety, and ISO/RTO compliance standards.
• Maintain and manage engineering logs (issues, RFIs, submittals), delegate tasks with clear deadlines, and effectively communicate project status, risks, and mitigation strategies to leadership in a concise, fact-based manner.
• Spearhead initiatives to standardize and enhance end-to-end project engineering workflows to boost efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the portfolio.
• Assess and recommend engineering expenditures and resource allocations to facilitate project execution and align with organizational priorities.
• Assist project management and HSE teams in formulating and implementing site-specific safety programs, engaging in planning and hazard analyses, and acting as a technical resource for safety-related issues.
• 3-5+ years of experience in power delivery, substations, transmission, interconnection, and renewable energy, with at least 2+ years in energy storage.
• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is mandatory; Professional Engineer (PE) designation is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of industry standards and codes, including IBC, NFPA 855, CEC, CFC, IEEE, NEMA, NEC, OSHA, and UL.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft Project, and Smartsheets.
• Exceptional communication and presentation capabilities, both written and verbal.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain calm and productive interactions during high-pressure situations, and to provide executive-level reporting that facilitates timely actions and decision-making in urgent scenarios.
