Project Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide technical and overall leadership to the project team, ensuring the project achieves its training goals, fosters enduring community engagement that enhances aerospace workforce systems, and generates new knowledge.

• Oversee the technical integrity of project execution and operational functions, including management and staffing, subawards, and deliverables, in accordance with FHI 360 policies and procedures.

• Establish work plans, processes, and policies to accomplish project objectives within set time frames and funding limits, ensuring adherence to the GE Aerospace Foundation, FHI 360, and project regulations.

• Collaborate with project finance specialists and the Director of Programs to review and adjust the project budget, ensuring that expenditures are judicious and within budgetary constraints.

• Work alongside project technical specialists to evaluate and analyze education and workforce development challenges in target communities, aiding in grant development and partner selection.

• Partner with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team to devise and oversee the execution of a MERL plan for the project, ensuring it aligns with project objectives and produces valuable insights.

• In tandem with project communications specialists, the GE Aerospace Foundation, and the Director of Programs, create and manage a communications strategy for the project, ensuring its coherence with FHI 360’s portfolio of GE Aerospace Foundation-funded initiatives.

• Lead a cross-departmental team of 12-14 staff members working full- or part-time on this project, as well as consultants in targeted communities.

• Assist the Director of Programs in communicating with, reporting to, and providing necessary updates to the Project Funder, the GE Aerospace Foundation.

• Identify, cultivate, and support partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to formulate community plans involving industry, technical, vocational, and training institutions, and local government entities that enhance resources and collaboration to achieve mutual objectives.

• Promote a culture of learning, excellence, teamwork, and accountability; ensure a safe and equitable work environment for all staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in Workforce Education, Workforce Development, International Development, Economic Development, Education, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Policy Studies, or a related field.

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in project management, overseeing intricate projects and initiatives, including experience managing global projects.

• A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.

• Proven expertise in workforce education, workforce development, or a related domain.

• Experience in leading and managing complex projects on an international level.

• Experience in directing teams within intricate environments, managing multiple grants, and overseeing human and financial resources.

• Proven experience in establishing partnerships with a diverse array of stakeholders, including NGOs, corporations, community colleges, technical and vocational training institutions, and public sector and local government entities related to education, training, and workforce development.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Proficiency in a second language may be an advantage.
