This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Assist with the accounting for various wind, solar, or storage projects.
• Evaluate accounting schedules and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Offer insights, guidance, and support in the preparation and review of accounting schedules.
• Analyze project contracts to ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards.
• Conduct monthly budget-to-actual income statement analyses and trend assessments.
• Clarify any unusual financial variances.
• Oversee project cash accounts, including conducting bank reconciliations and cash forecasts.
• Suggest cash distributions for projects as necessary.
• Review and authorize purchase orders and invoices for proper coding and accuracy.
• Compile weekly accounts payable lists for cash management and payment processing.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements at both project and consolidated levels.
• Collaborate with Asset Managers to prepare annual operating budgets.
• Aid in financial statement audits by supplying necessary documentation and explanations to external auditors.
• Create required financial deliverables as specified in contracts.
• Assist in reconciling both draft and final annual tax returns.
• Support system implementations and ensure data integrity.
• Serve as the accounting liaison between internal teams and stakeholders.
• Report directly to the Accounting Manager.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting is required.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a project accounting-related position.
• Experience with multi-level partnerships is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with GAAP accounting principles.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and multilevel partnership consolidation structures.
• Experience in financial analysis, including budget-to-actual comparisons for income statements, trend analysis, and balance sheet ratios.
• Capability to read and interpret contracts thoroughly, including revenue contracts, lease agreements, debt agreements, and interest rate swaps.
• Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Detail-oriented with the capacity to meet overlapping deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Effectiveness in a flexible team environment.
