This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Executing projects that bolster wildfire advocacy efforts
• Engaging in and overseeing coalition activities
• Administering grants and contracts
• Developing communication materials
• Organizing meetings and gatherings
• Assisting in the implementation of programs and strategic plans
• Maintaining and revising project management systems, records, and files to monitor milestones, deadlines, budgets, and program progress across California and Washington portfolios
• Aiding Wildfire Program staff with strategic planning and program development
• Monitoring work plan execution in collaboration with Program Officers
• Conducting policy research and analysis; preparing, reviewing, summarizing, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of written materials
• Identifying potential grantees and contractors through research efforts
• Keeping abreast of wildfire resilience topics, trends, and policy advancements
• Supporting and staffing policy coalitions; monitoring relationships, partner assets, and contacts; representing RLF’s wildfire team at in-person events as required
• Fostering relationships with agency representatives and decision-makers to promote wildfire resilience initiatives
• Drafting and overseeing communication systems and materials in support of California and Washington program areas
• Managing logistics for virtual and in-person meetings, large gatherings (75+ attendees), and team retreats
• Leading and assisting with grantmaking and contract activities for California and Washington program sectors
• Minimum of 3 years of expertise in western wildfire resilience, conservation, climate change, or related fields.
• A strong commitment to and interest in acquiring policy development and advocacy skills.
• Comfortable and enthusiastic about navigating a complex policy, stakeholder, and political landscape, with familiarity in environmental, economic, and social challenges and opportunities in the West.
• Demonstrated strong work ethic, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to thoroughness and quality.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively, and capacity to represent and articulate RLF’s mission to diverse audiences including policymakers, donors, grantees, and consultants.
• Outstanding project management and organizational capabilities.
• Innovative and adaptable self-starter able to anticipate and respond to rapidly evolving priorities, objectives, and circumstances.
• Capability to work efficiently within and across teams.
• Experience in administering or managing grants or contracts is desirable.
