Program Director – Mainframe Optimization, Delivery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as a Program Director and technical advisor to clients, offering strategic insight on mainframe optimization, modernization, and transformation projects.

• Oversee comprehensive program delivery, which includes planning, execution, governance, and stakeholder management across multiple simultaneous initiatives.

• Provide Project/Program Management for the successful completion of projects.

• Assist in pre-sales efforts by participating in solution design, defining project scope, developing proposals, and presenting to clients.

• Create and manage program plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations utilizing tools such as Jira, Asana, MS Project, and Smartsheet.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient delivery of technical solutions, including the installation, testing, and implementation of mainframe systems and software.

• Promote continuous improvement within mainframe environments (z/OS, tape management, scheduling, security, monitoring, etc.) through automation, cost reduction, and performance optimization.

• Convert complex technical ideas into business value for non-technical stakeholders.

• Conduct post-project evaluations and apply lessons learned to enhance future engagements.

• Mentor junior consultants and engage in internal knowledge sharing and thought leadership initiatives.

• Ensure adherence to technical standards, industry best practices, and client-specific requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in technology consulting, program management, or enterprise IT delivery.

• Profound understanding of mainframe technologies and operations (z/OS, scheduling tools, tape management, etc.).

• Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale optimization or transformation initiatives.

• Strong expertise in client engagement, solution development, and pre-sales support.

• Familiarity with project and program management tools (Jira, Asana, MS Project, Smartsheet).

• Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (PMP or Agile certification is advantageous).
