This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Assigns the appropriate ICD and CPT codes for reimbursement and statistical analysis.

• Adheres to ICD, CPT, CMS, and other regulatory coding standards.

• Extracts clinical information from medical records to ensure comprehensive and precise statistical documentation.

• Reviews and interprets medical documentation to accurately allocate ICD and CPT codes for facility or professional reimbursement and statistical analysis.

• Inputs information into the computer system for reimbursement and statistical purposes.

• Conducts research and keeps updated with the latest trends in healthcare coding and compliance.

• Keeps the department manager informed about any coding or documentation challenges.

• Collaborates with physicians, coding staff, and other hospital personnel to guarantee correct and accurate code assignment and continuous quality enhancement.

• Responsible for assisting with coding claim edits and reviewing claim denials for rectification.

• Reports to work punctually and adheres to attendance policies.

• Plans time off in advance to avoid significant disruptions to coding turnaround times.

• Performs all other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Years of Professional Coding Experience Across Multiple Clinical and/or Surgical Specialties (a combination of Surgical, E/M, or other coding experience as approved by Director), successfully meeting quality and productivity standards.

• Required Certifications/Licensure: Active AAPC or AHIMA Coding Credential.

• Required Training: Experience in CPT, ICD diagnosis coding; familiarity with CCI edits; knowledge of Medicare LCDs and NCDs; understanding of state and federal regulations as well as payor billing requirements; must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with electronic health records software; E/M Documentation Guideline (1995/1997/2021) experience.
