This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and manage professional liability claims, including those that are highly complex and severe.
• Facilitate case management in accordance with company standards, industry best practices, and client service expectations.
• Investigate and collect information to assess claim exposure.
• Manage claims through action plans to ensure timely resolutions.
• Conduct or assign investigations and report on new events, claims, and legal proceedings.
• Negotiate claim settlements within the designated authority limits.
• Calculate, assign, and monitor claim reserves.
• Propose settlement strategies and structured settlement options.
• Perform coverage analysis and generate necessary correspondence.
• Coordinate legal defense, assign attorneys, review invoices, and ensure compliance from counsel.
• Implement cost containment strategies and establish strategic vendor partnerships.
• Investigate potential fraud, subrogation, contribution, recovery, and case management opportunities.
• Represent the company in depositions, mediations, and trial monitoring as required.
• Communicate claim activities with clients while maintaining professional relationships.
• Ensure that claim files are accurately documented and that claim coding is correct.
• Refer cases to supervisors and management when appropriate.
• Delegate tasks and mentor other team members.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Professional certification relevant to the line of business is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in professional liability claims management is required.
• Ability to think clearly and conceptually.
• Strong judgment, troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical skills, and discretion.
• Capability to manage work-related stress effectively.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient in computer keyboarding.
