Production Designer, Retail – Packaging

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of technical production for retail and packaging, which includes dielines, print-ready files, and vendor specifications.

• Modify approved retail concepts for various formats, retailers, and sizes.

• Identify layout issues prior to designs being sent for printing.

• Establish and maintain production systems, incorporating templates, specifications, and organized file management.

• Act as the primary contact for print vendors concerning materials, tolerances, and printing methods.

• Assist cross-functional partners with print production and address technical inquiries.

• Propel projects forward effectively.

• Provide backup production assistance for retail and direct-to-consumer packaging.

• Develop quality checks that identify issues before products are available on shelves.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience as a production artist in packaging, print, retail, visual merchandising, or a related field.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

• Background in managing high-volume production across various SKUs, formats, retailers, and versions.

• Excellent communication skills with designers, vendors, printers, and internal teams.

• Strong attention to spacing, typography, and hierarchy.

• Outstanding proofreading abilities and keen attention to minor alignment, copy, or structural issues.

• Knowledge of color management techniques to ensure color consistency during print production.

• Capability to inquire rather than speculate and to investigate uncertainties.

• Resourcefulness in finding alternatives when faced with vendor or specification challenges.

• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.

• Ownership of naming conventions, file structures, tracking, and other production systems.

• Familiarity with Figma and 3D rendering tools like SketchUp is advantageous.

• Experience with print vendors or various printing methods such as flexographic, digital, offset, or lithographic printing is a plus.
