This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Reviews documentation to ensure all essential components are present, including attestations, signatures, dates, and other necessary medical record details.
• Abstracts and codes surgical procedures from the entire CPT range and aligns surgical codes with ASA standards.
• May handle coding for more intricate anesthesia cases.
• Applies relevant modifiers as needed.
• Codes using ICD10 standards.
• Abstracts anesthesia times and related events.
• Identifies and assigns care team providers effectively.
• Conducts reviews for medical direction compliance.
• Achieves team KPIs, including daily production targets and quarterly coding audit score objectives.
• Manages cases escalated by coding staff and offers constructive feedback on these cases.
• Generates required reports for management upon request.
• Addresses complex edits and denials, including issues related to concurrency and provider time conflicts.
• Recognizes and reports emerging trends.
• Undertakes additional duties as assigned.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures, particularly regarding HIPAA and confidentiality.
• Over 5 years of experience in complex surgical CPT and ICD10 coding.
• A minimum of 4 years of anesthesia coding experience.
• Experience in additional complex coding areas such as cardiac, critical care, transplant, and interventional radiology.
• Current CPC certification is required; CANPC certification is a plus.
• Must have experience coding for physicians, CRNAs, CAAs, NPs, SRNAs, and residents.
• Proficient in using Athena IDX for managing edits, denials, manual tasks, and charge corrections.
• Bonuses are not guaranteed and are awarded based on both company and individual performance.
