This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• Conducting thorough reviews and precise coding of all professional services, including evaluation and management, diagnostics, surgeries, and procedures, in alignment with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer regulations to guarantee accurate reimbursement.
• Complying with MedKoder’s internal coding policies and the standards established by department management.
• Managing daily responsibilities effectively, multitasking, communicating clearly, and making informed decisions to complete all assigned tasks and achieve objectives.
• Reviewing and coding Cardiology IR/CV Surgery and E/M cases accurately and efficiently to enhance reimbursement timelines.
• Evaluating and coding E/M visits and office procedures with precision.
• Demonstrating the ability to work autonomously and investigate coding scenarios as needed.
• Being accountable for meeting daily production and quality targets, consistently achieving an accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
• Participating in conference calls as necessary to offer insights and feedback.
• Engaging with leadership regarding coding or documentation issues and trends.
• Keeping up-to-date with all coding guidelines (including those specific to specialties) and maintaining credentials as required.
• Taking part in coding department and educational meetings.
• Being adaptable to broaden coding expertise into additional specialties.
• Upholding confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive information.
• Performing other duties as assigned by leadership.
• High School diploma is mandatory.
• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC-certified program with the attainment of the corresponding professional credential (e.g., CCS-P, CPC, or another applicable AAPC stand-alone credential), which must be active and in good standing.
• A minimum of 5 years of physician coding experience (recent hands-on production), including at least 3 years of coding experience in the specialty of Cardiology IR and Vascular.
• Proficient understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, CPT coding and guidelines by the AMA, ICD-10-CM coding and guidelines, modifiers, surgical techniques, and Medicare (CMS/MAC) and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.
• Experience in working remotely is preferred but not required.
