This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and execute internal underwriting strategies, product offerings, and adaptations to regulatory changes or compliance evaluations.
• Develop and keep current underwriting manuals, guidelines, and resource libraries.
• Assess and analyze intricate files to provide expert assistance for claims and legal teams.
• Analyze and utilize data insights for effective decision-making and strategic prioritization.
• Perform comprehensive research on emerging markets, innovative products, and changing risk environments.
• Review and authorize complex underwriting files and significant decisions as deemed appropriate.
• Create and implement remediation strategies for system errors and oversee regulatory reporting documentation.
• Keep an eye on market trends, industry changes, and regulatory updates.
• Monitor and report on product performance to ensure long-term growth and stability.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams, including product and underwriting management, marketing, claims, and operations.
• A degree or diploma in business, commerce, economics, insurance, or marketing, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of continuous personal lines automobile insurance underwriting or product development experience.
• Specific expertise with ICBC Autoplan and optional coverages in British Columbia.
• Familiarity with the insurance legislation and regulatory framework in the relevant province.
• Experience in conducting wording analysis to identify coverage gaps and formulate new wording in plain language.
• Experience working on projects within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Experience in developing supplementary resources or training materials.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and capability to learn new technologies.
• CAIB, CIP, or FCIP designation is preferred.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
