This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +5 more states.
• Deliver engineering technical support for PowerSecure MicroGrid systems, including switchgear and generators.
• Committed to a customer-focused approach by fulfilling required expectations.
• Ensure high-quality decision-making by leveraging work experience, systematic analysis, and engineering expertise to make valuable and safe choices.
• Excel at problem-solving by applying logic and proven methods to effectively address any issues.
• Act as a liaison with engineering teams in the factory to resolve field issues that emerge during start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site.
• Assist in complex start-ups.
• Provide field troubleshooting and technical support through phone assistance and occasionally onsite visits.
• Oversee onsite engineering changes to drawings and settings files.
• Communicate open action items to the appropriate stakeholders for action planning and task assignments.
• Support the development and implementation of field retrofit projects, engineering change notices, product troubleshooting guidelines, and procedures.
• Promptly escalate issues to leadership that may jeopardize project quality or timelines to ensure customer satisfaction while avoiding excessive costs.
• Capable of commissioning complex projects that involve PLC-based designs controlling entire distribution systems in large facilities such as hospitals, data centers, or multi-generator/utility applications.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and providing technical assistance for PowerGen products like Volvo or PSI.
• Skilled in troubleshooting and offering technical support for switchgear products including Square D, Eaton, ABB, and Siemens circuit breakers, as well as low-voltage and medium-voltage switchgear.
• Capable of troubleshooting and providing technical support for programming devices such as Woodward controllers, DIEF controllers, SEL protective relays, Beckwith protective relays, and Siemens/GE PLCs.
• Over 10 years of commercial/industrial experience with generators, ATS/switchgear, and paralleling control systems.
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering may substitute for 4 years of experience.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics and Engineer of Record drawings.
• Experience in programming logic controllers (PLC), generator controllers, protective relays, alternators, and generators.
• Commissioning and field experience are highly recommended.
• NFPA 70 ARC Flash Certification is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to understand, develop, and/or modify switchgear and/or PowerGen controllers and devices.
• Knowledge of operational theory related to switchgear and/or PowerGen products and a strong grasp of AC/DC electrical theory.
• Competent in troubleshooting switchgear and/or PowerGen equipment and systems.
• Ability to comprehend and adhere to project scopes.
• Eager to learn about PowerSecure Microgrid Solution products.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with experience in failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Excellent time management capabilities.
• Must demonstrate initiative to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize workloads with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lead root cause analysis events to investigate field failures.
