Product Owner, Accounting Stack – Entire Business Suite

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the strategy and take ownership of the connectivity layer to the accounting and ERP systems utilized by our clients' accountants, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct.

• Create an expense management solution that caters to both business owners and the accountants who reconcile on their behalf. This includes receipt capture, general ledger coding, approval workflows, and seamless integration into accounting tools without necessitating manual reconciliation downstream.

• Manage bill payment and accounts receivable/accounts payable processes. Oversee the workflow from invoice receipt to vendor payment, and from invoice dispatch to customer payment, ensuring complete reconciliation with the accounting system.

• Develop the invoicing product. Currently, there is no substantial invoicing offering, and customer demand is increasing. Determine its structure and bring it to market.

• Design the integration between business financial data and personal financial data, creating a unique advantage that no other fintech has. Make the integrated owner experience a reality in the product, allowing accountants to deliver it effectively.

• Collaborate closely with the product owners in Banking, Credit, Cards, and Payments to ensure financial flows integrate seamlessly across the platform, eliminating any gaps and preventing reconciliation challenges for both accountants and customers.

• Act as a translator between the controller, CFO, and CPA personas and the rest of the company. We seek someone who can fluently communicate in both owner and accountant terminology, and convey this understanding to the owner perspective.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have spent years contemplating how business owners and their accountants manage financial operations. You understand the distinctions between a bookkeeper, a controller, a fractional CFO, and an external accountant, and you have developed products for at least one of these roles.

• Extensive, hands-on experience with at least two of the following: QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or Acumatica. This means not just familiarity, but actual development or integration experience at a deep level.

• You can record a transaction without needing to reference external material. You grasp the differences between accrual and cash basis accounting, the closing cycle, the purpose of a 1099, and the importance of the audit trail to a controller.

• You have experience either within an accounting platform, as an integration partner on top of one, or in building a fintech product that operates natively within the accounting workflow.

• Understanding the accountant channel and the influence CPAs have on product adoption is essential. Bonus points if you have experience building for or collaborating directly with CPAs.

• Typically possess 4 to 10 years of relevant experience. The job title is not the primary focus.
