Product Manager, Compliance – Onboarding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the KYB & KYC onboarding product.

• Manage the KYB & KYC product, overseeing the onboarding processes for payment company clients, their merchants, and end customers, ensuring compliance with regulations such as MiCA and FM-GwG while optimizing conversion rates.

• Lead cross-provider KYB orchestration.

• Streamline and simplify KYB requirements in collaboration with partners including banks, payment rails, and liquidity providers, orchestrating KYB processes between clients and partners.

• Minimize onboarding friction through data reuse.

• Leverage existing KYB and KYC efforts completed by our clients on their merchants and customers. Develop data-sharing mechanisms to accept previously conducted due diligence where applicable.

• Oversee the compliance product suite.

• Collaborate with the Compliance team on the roadmap for sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, risk scoring, and fraud prevention across both crypto and fiat, ensuring every product meets the regulatory standards of the jurisdictions we serve: MiCA, US MTLs, and emerging markets.

• Manage Travel Rule compliance across all products.

• Ensure Travel Rule compliance is maintained for every product, adapting our approach as regulations evolve by jurisdiction.

• Promote automation within compliance flows.

• Direct the roadmap for automating compliance workflows, replacing manual reviews and repetitive checks with automation or AI agents, covering onboarding decisions to ongoing monitoring.

• Advocate for the responsible use of AI in compliance.

• Integrate AI into discovery, analysis, and workflow automation across the compliance suite, ensuring sensitive and regulated data is handled in accordance with data protection standards.

• Collaborate closely with various teams.

• Work alongside Compliance, Legal, Engineering, Partner Engineering, and Design to create products that are regulatory compliant, dependable, and user-friendly.

• Coordinate with our Managing Director and AMLO (Anti-Money Laundering Officer) in Vienna, our CCO in the US, and other Product Managers to ensure compliance is synchronized with the broader platform.

• Focus on outcomes rather than features.

• Establish measurable outcomes for each initiative, utilizing data to inform prioritization, iteration, and investment choices.

• Communicate clearly and proactively.

• Keep teams and leadership informed about progress, decisions, risks, and insights, providing transparency about our projects, their significance, and validated information.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 5-8+ years of experience in product management, with substantial involvement in compliance, onboarding, risk, or fraud products within the payments, fintech, or crypto sectors.

• Experience coordinating KYB or compliance requirements among multiple downstream regulated partners, including banks, payment rails, or liquidity providers.

• Background in designing or working with KYC/KYB reliance, data-sharing, or reusable verification models aimed at reducing onboarding friction.

• Comprehensive understanding of KYB and KYC flows, and the impact of onboarding design on conversion rates and risk exposure.

• Proven experience managing compliance products like sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, risk scoring, or fraud prevention, ideally across both fiat and crypto channels.

• Familiarity with Travel Rule requirements and their application across various products and jurisdictions.

• Working knowledge of the regulatory landscape affecting compliance products, including MiCA, US state money transmitter licensing (MTLs), sanctions regimes, and AML requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate regulatory trade-offs with Legal and Compliance teams, translating them into actionable product requirements.

• Strong analytical abilities, comfortable with defining and tracking compliance and onboarding performance metrics.

• Effective communicator capable of fostering alignment among compliance, engineering, and executive stakeholders.

• Daily user of AI tools to enhance discovery, analysis, and decision-making, with sound judgment in managing sensitive and regulated data responsibly.
