This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Transform product notes written by the founder into epics, stories, and actionable engineering tasks.
• Consolidate epics into releases with achievable timelines, while defending against scope creep and unrealistic timelines.
• Keep the release plan updated as a dynamic document, adjusting it transparently as circumstances change.
• Craft acceptance criteria for each epic, defining what "done" means based on the product notes.
• Establish release readiness criteria, including necessary test coverage, behavior-equivalence verification, governance hooks, and customer-facing documentation.
• Approve epics prior to their release; no epic is released without your endorsement.
• Make day-to-day prioritization decisions within a release, determining the order of bug fixes, epic dependencies, and what to cut when required.
• Escalate issues to founders only when they cross strategic boundaries; within those boundaries, you make the decisions.
• Review the product daily as a customer would, identifying issues before they reach customers and directing them to the appropriate engineer.
• Maintain an ongoing quality standard that the team can reference, using the question "Would I demo this today?" as a benchmark.
• Lead scrum meetings, including planning sessions, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Oversee the entire release process, including cutting, validating, shipping, and conducting post-release reviews.
• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering on the deployment pipeline, ensuring it remains clean and repeatable.
• While the founders determine the release schedule, you manage the shipping process.
• Identify blockers and risks early enough to take action, ensuring no surprises on release day.
• After each release, analyze what was shipped, what didn't land, and what requires iteration. Document the retrospective, share it, and implement the lessons learned.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in product management within a B2B SaaS or developer tools company.
• Have successfully managed the complete delivery of a product from scope to shipping and post-release iteration at least once.
• Excellent written communication skills are essential; you will produce acceptance criteria, release plans, scrum notes, decision documents, and retrospectives.
• Background in engineering, having built and shipped production software for at least 3 years before transitioning to product management.
• Ability to read Python comfortably and other common languages (Java, TypeScript, SQL) sufficiently to follow code reviews or design documents.
• Proficiency in design reviews for distributed systems, agent orchestration, or data pipelines, bringing opinions rather than just questions.
• Treat commitments seriously; if a release date is set, you defend or renegotiate it openly without slipping silently.
• Conduct scrum meetings efficiently, focusing on removing blockers rather than filling time.
• Consider acceptance criteria, release plans, and retrospectives as important deliverables, not just paperwork.
• Comfortable working in a founder-led product environment where strategic direction comes from above, and you are responsible for execution.
• Proactive in decision-making; making and revising decisions is preferred over deferring them.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, as you will participate in product reviews and discussions affecting customers.
• Available to work during US business hours from India.
• Health insurance
• Flexible work arrangements
• Professional development opportunities
