Product Manager – APIs, Mid-Level/Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Understand the platform and its user base.

• In the first 90 days, gain a comprehensive understanding of the API. Conduct test calls, review documentation as a merchant would, and identify integration pain points.

• Engage with our largest merchants to learn their reasons for using our service. Trace the entire journey from the initial API call to the first successful transaction, noting where users drop off.

• Take ownership of the API roadmap.

• Make decisions regarding what features to develop, what to discontinue, and where to politely decline requests.

• Manage pricing and packaging strategies to ensure mutual success for both merchants and the company.

• Implement reliable solutions that are consistently dependable.

• Collaborate with the Engineering team to manage delivery using effective rituals such as sprints and retrospectives.

• Increase the number of live merchants and the transaction volume through the API, backed by solid metrics.

• Maintain high standards for uptime, security, and compliance.

• Ensure that merchants can process customer transactions smoothly; "mostly works" is not acceptable.

• Simplify the integration process (the Enablement aspect).

• Reduce the time to first transaction; quicker merchant onboarding leads to a better product experience.

• Create exceptional documentation, sandboxes, and support materials that minimize the need for merchant inquiries.

• Provide Sales, Solutions, and Support teams with the resources they need to win contracts and keep merchants satisfied.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing products within payments, crypto, fintech, or B2B technology.

• You have taken ownership of an API or developer platform as a product, rather than merely managing support tickets.

• You understand that your customers are developers and design accordingly.

• Data-driven decision-maker: you rely on adoption metrics, feedback, and experimental results, while intuition also plays a role.

• You manage agile teams effectively and ensure smooth delivery amidst shifting priorities.

• You collaborate well with Engineering, Commercial, Legal teams, and partners.

• You translate "customer needs" into "deliverables."

• Nice-to-haves: Familiarity with custody, liquidity, stablecoins, or on/off ramps.

• Comfort with compliance, risk, or regulatory standards in payments or cryptocurrency.

• Experience building products for African, LATAM, or Asian markets.
