This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ensure that the products assigned remain competitive in the market by collaborating with Sales and various internal and external stakeholders to identify issues and competitive gaps, and subsequently develop the necessary product solutions to sustain and improve the product portfolio.
• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary contact for Absence & Disability products and contract information across all markets.
• Analyze current market trends and competitor offerings to pinpoint gaps in product offerings, thereby maintaining a competitive product portfolio.
• Utilize research findings to suggest product enhancements or the development of new products.
• Stay informed about federal and state guidelines, and engage in trade association forums to ensure all products adhere to regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Continuously assess and uphold the competitiveness of assigned products by identifying issues, barriers, or emerging concerns, and recommending suitable actions.
• Work in partnership with SLDA Product leadership, Underwriting, Actuarial, and Finance teams to evaluate the financial performance of products and determine necessary changes to keep products profitable and competitive.
• Lead product enhancement initiatives from opportunity assessment to implementation independently.
• Define and document business requirements, product specifications, and necessary policy form changes to support approved product enhancements; act as the primary owner of enhancement requirements throughout implementation.
• Coordinate cross-functional execution of product enhancements, including implementation readiness, internal product documentation, and training support.
• Provide sales training and develop communication strategies for product launches as required.
• Strong understanding of insurance product lifecycle management and Absence & Disability products.
• Familiarity with industry terminology and regulatory standards (e.g., insurance regulations) is crucial.
• Ability to analyze market data and competitive intelligence to inform product decisions.
• A comprehensive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Build strong partnerships with a diverse range of teams (Actuary, Marketing, Sales, Operations, IT, etc.) to align priorities and drive collective outcomes.
• Clearly convey concepts to varied audiences through well-organized and polished presentations and materials.
• Experience in developing and implementing product marketing and support materials (such as managing website content and creating collateral) to facilitate product launches and ongoing product management.
• Self-motivated with robust project management capabilities.
• Able to manage multiple complex tasks and coordinate competing priorities independently, with minimal oversight.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in product management or product development within the assigned product line fields, or 5-7 years of leadership experience in assigned product line or group benefits insurance.
