This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Establish comprehensive requirements for AI capabilities, encompassing model behavior, system performance, and user experience.

• Interpret model capabilities, evaluation outcomes, and technical limitations into concise product and system decisions.

• Balance trade-offs among quality, latency, cost, reliability, safety, and user experience.

• Collaborate closely with ML, backend, and client engineers on system architecture, evaluation, and iterative enhancements.

• Define and refine evaluation frameworks that include offline metrics, online testing, and human feedback.

• Set clear quality standards and feedback mechanisms for AI-driven experiences.

• Propel execution through detailed specifications, prioritization, and sound technical judgment.

• Identify potential failure modes and ensure AI systems function predictably and recover smoothly.

• Take ownership of product quality throughout the entire lifecycle, including accuracy, reliability, utility, and user trust.

• Align AI product strategy with user requirements and organizational goals.

• Deliver AI features that are understandable, predictable, and trustworthy.

• Clarify project roadmaps and priorities, iterating based on genuine user feedback.

• Coordinate teams to achieve AI product objectives with minimal friction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) is mandatory.

• Strong foundation in computer science and system design is essential.

• Solid grasp of contemporary Machine Learning (ML) practices and the operational behavior of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems.

• Proficient in interpreting technical designs, understanding architectures, and engaging thoroughly with engineering teams.

• Strong intuition regarding model limitations, hallucinations, evaluation processes, and potential failure modes.

• Extensive experience managing complex technical products from inception to completion.

• Practical experience with AI-driven products, specifically those based on LLM systems.

• Background in model evaluation, experimentation, prompting, or the iterative development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems.

• Capable of transforming ambiguous challenges into clear requirements, measurable outcomes, and actionable plans.

• Possess strong judgment and decision-making abilities, especially when faced with unclear solutions.

• Highly technical, inquisitive, and willing to delve deeply into topics.

• Strong inclination towards shipping products, conducting experiments, and learning from real-world usage.

• Able to constructively challenge engineers and researchers while fostering strong teamwork.

• Comfortable taking significant ownership in a dynamic, zero-to-one environment.

• Must be ready to undertake a 60-minute coding assessment.

• Experience in deploying AI-centric consumer products is a plus.

• Background as an engineer or a highly technical product manager is advantageous.

• Familiarity with defining evaluation metrics for ML systems is a plus.

• Strong insight into AI user experience patterns and failure management is desirable.

• Previous experience in zero-to-one product environments is a plus.
