Product Director, Common Voice

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Implement the 2026 maintenance+ roadmap, guaranteeing platform stability, reliability, security, and progression on essential technical debt.

• Establish and monitor success metrics that align with the 2026 objectives and Tech Platforms goals.

• Spearhead the development of a proposed product roadmap for 2027 and beyond, encompassing growth scenarios, resource implications, and strategic trade-offs.

• Assist the Common Voice project in funding proposal preparations and partnership discussions as necessary.

• Assume interim community manager duties while the Common Voice team undergoes re-scoping and development.

• Maintain continuity, trust, and responsiveness for the Mozilla Common Voice community throughout the transition phase.

• Manage community communications, contributor engagement, and language onboarding processes within resource limitations.

• Set clear objectives, priorities, and expectations for engineering contributors in line with product goals.

• Facilitate effective collaboration among engineering, data, privacy, and infrastructure teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of increasingly senior Product Management experience, preferably in a small, agile team environment.

• Strong product judgment with experience in setting direction, prioritizing tasks, and managing trade-offs in complex environments.

• Familiarity with linguistics or languages; multilingualism is a plus.

• At least a basic understanding of computational linguistics or NLP.

• Exceptional communication skills are essential, as the team and community are global and distributed. You will need to engage with internal and external collaborators from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

• Excellent judgment, with proven skills in prioritizing a variety of incoming signals and needs.

• Self-motivated and driven; a proactive problem solver, especially in a small team setting.

• Strong interest in research and metrics, ideally with experience in delivering user research plans and collaborating directly with communities, users, and partners.

• Experience collaborating closely with linguists, language activists, software engineers, data scientists, and designers.
