This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the complete design process, starting from research and ideation through to prototyping, validation, and the delivery of impactful product experiences that assist our users in making informed financial choices.
• Serve as the customer advocate by utilizing research, usability testing, A/B testing, and various analytical tools to comprehend and validate ideas, issues, and solutions, ensuring that every decision provides measurable value to users.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, marketing, and content teams to transform ideas into significant, user-centered experiences.
• Create responsive and cohesive experiences across both mobile and desktop platforms.
• Work closely with engineers to guarantee the feasibility of designs, high-fidelity implementation, and visual and functional accuracy in the final product.
• Contribute to product roadmaps and assist in sprint planning alongside product and engineering teams.
• Develop and manage design backlogs, while shaping the design strategy for the upcoming 6–24 months.
• Address additional design requirements stemming from content and marketing initiatives across Ratehub and MoneySense.
• Lead workshops with stakeholders to align on objectives, gather requirements, and collaboratively create solutions.
• Effectively communicate design concepts and rationales to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
• Create and uphold scalable design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across products.
• Ensure all designs comply with accessibility standards (WCAG) to provide inclusive user experiences.
• Remain updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously enhance design processes and methodologies.
• Over 3 years of product design experience, accompanied by a robust portfolio that highlights responsive designs for both web and mobile platforms.
• Demonstrated capability to oversee the entire design process: user research, ideation, prototyping, UX/UI design, and usability testing.
• Strong skills in UX and UI design, with a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of how to create intuitive, impactful user experiences.
• High proficiency in Figma.
• Proven ability to utilize both quantitative and qualitative data to substantiate design decisions, with skills in usability testing tools (e.g., usertesting.com, Maze) and analytics tools (e.g., Heap, Hotjar).
• Highly organized and self-reliant, capable of prioritizing and handling multiple projects under tight deadlines in a dynamic, agile environment.
• Skilled in simplifying complex problems into straightforward, intuitive solutions and quickly iterating based on feedback.
• Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining scalable, component-based design systems using contemporary design principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to present design rationales and align cross-functional stakeholders.
• Action-oriented mindset — balancing quality and speed, knowing when to delve deep and when to act swiftly.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and experienced in designing products and features from inception to execution.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in UX Design or a related field.
• Nice-to-haves: Experience with Storybook or WordPress. Basic knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Experience designing for customer-facing financial services products.
