Product Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary Legal contact for the supported business lines while coordinating Binance’s legal requirements and obligations for various products and services.

• Support product development throughout the entire product life cycle, identifying and mitigating Legal risks.

• Provide guidance on product compliance with regulations across different jurisdictions, encompassing licensing, approvals, product restrictions, AML/CFT, and related issues.

• Draft, revise, and negotiate product terms, commercial contracts, and templates for risk mitigation.

• Offer legal advice on product-related marketing efforts, announcements, and social media campaigns.

• Counsel on regulatory compliance and implementation regarding financial instruments and digital assets laws, including MIFID, MAR, EMIR, MiCA, and DORA.

• Advise on client complaints and disputes in collaboration with litigation colleagues.

• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders across various jurisdictions and time zones.

• Guide cross-functional teams to enhance user acquisition and retention.

• Stay up-to-date with industry and market trends, researching product-centric regulatory challenges.

• Identify legal concerns throughout the end-to-end product planning and execution process.

• Assist with licensing initiatives and support internal projects.

• Create innovative solutions to meet evolving business needs.

• Provide training and develop internal guidance for colleagues.

• Oversee external counsel engagements in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8–10 years of experience in a law firm, financial services organization, or a dynamic technology company.

• A strong team player with business insight and exceptional communication abilities.

• A keen interest in the cryptocurrency and digital asset markets.

• Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing across various stakeholders and business units.

• Confident in engaging with senior stakeholders and delivering reliable, commercially minded legal advice.

• Relevant legal experience in advising on digital assets and/or financial products within a fintech company or financial institution is preferred.

• Experience in product counseling related to privacy, data protection, intellectual property, or technology transactions/litigation is advantageous.

• A proactive and hands-on attitude with the ability to independently manage complex projects.

• Capability to collaborate with cross-functional business teams and maintain relationships with regulatory and compliance stakeholders.

• A legal qualification/license is required for the Product Counsel role context.
