Junior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of civil and consumer-law litigation cases in collaboration with external legal counsel.

• Track cases involving agencies such as PROCON and consumidor.gov.

• Manage less complex commercial contracts from initiation to completion.

• Assist Product, Operations, and People teams in addressing recurring legal inquiries.

• Establish controls, monitor metrics, and pinpoint process deficiencies.

• Recommend enhancements to streamline legal processes, making them more organized, efficient, and scalable.

• Leverage AI and automation to minimize manual tasks and scale operations effectively.

• Gradually broaden coverage to include employment law, compliance, privacy, and automation initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) license, or nearing completion (e.g., having passed the exam and waiting for the registration number).

• Experience in civil litigation, encompassing the preparation of case materials and legal documents, monitoring procedural timelines, and organizing records.

• Proficient in reviewing contracts, including service agreements, NDAs, amendments, and supplier contracts.

• Ability to independently resolve issues and proactively identify obstacles.

• Strong execution capabilities and an eagerness to engage in a mostly hands-on role.

• Curiosity and initiative to integrate AI and automation into legal workflows and processes.

• Familiarity with legal tools such as Elaw, DocuSign/ZapSign, and Notion, or the capacity to learn them swiftly.

• Preferred qualifications include exposure to employment law/People matters, compliance, KYC/AML, Brazil's LGPD, regulated companies, in-house legal advisory, and Bacen/CVM/FIDC regulatory issues.
