This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.
β’ Provide independent assurance regarding the design, implementation, and operational effectiveness of product controls across payment, wallet, settlement, switch, and associated products.
β’ Assess product risk exposure and control maturity prior to scaling products.
β’ Maintain a risk-ranked Product Audit Universe and take ownership of the annual Product Audit Plan.
β’ Review Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), business rules, transaction workflows, product scenarios, and Maker-Checker enforcement before production releases.
β’ Conduct ongoing audits of active payment products to identify configuration drift and emerging transaction-risk patterns.
β’ Execute mandatory pre-production Product Audit reviews and ensure that reconciliation, exception, and fallback controls are operational.
β’ Utilize SQL to interrogate the Fee Engine for validating commissions, VAT, discounts, splits, reversals, refunds, and chargebacks.
β’ Trace fund flows and evaluate synchronization between wallet sub-ledgers and the General Ledger.
β’ Audit product modifications, configuration integrity, master data, and formal change-management processes.
β’ Evaluate vendor-managed product controls, Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance, third-party API modifications, and risks associated with single-vendor dependencies.
β’ Provide guidance to product and engineering teams on control-by-design practices and participate in design and architecture reviews.
β’ Lead post-incident reviews and generate root-cause analysis reports; monitor corrective actions until closure.
β’ Assess compliance with CBN guidelines, PCI DSS, NDPR, and consumer protection responsibilities.
β’ Prepare risk-rated reports for Executive Management and the Audit Committee.
β’ Maintain the Product Risk Register and provide quarterly updates on control maturity.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
β’ 3β5+ years of experience in Product Audit, Systems Audit, Financial Data Analytics, or Payment Operations in a fintech or financial services context.
β’ Proven hands-on experience with payment product architecture, wallet systems, and regulated payment flows in a Nigerian or similar market environment.
β’ Advanced SQL skills for independent data extraction and transaction analysis.
β’ Understanding of payment systems architecture, including wallets, card processing, direct debit, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
β’ Basic knowledge of API and integration concepts.
β’ Comprehensive knowledge of the end-to-end transaction lifecycle: authorization, posting, clearing, settlement, and exception handling.
β’ Ability to analyze PRDs and process flows, translating product documentation into control flowcharts.
β’ Mathematical accuracy in fee calculations, interest computations, and split payment arrangements.
β’ Skill in identifying patterns for anomalies, outliers, and irregularities in extensive transaction datasets.
β’ Proficiency in risk-based audit methodologies utilizing IIA Standards and the COSO framework.
β’ Familiarity with control design logic and evaluation methods.
β’ Competence in root cause analysis techniques.
β’ Knowledge of CBN payment system regulations, PCI DSS, NDPR, and Nigerian consumer protection requirements.
β’ Proficiency in SQL platforms such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL.
β’ Strong skills in Advanced Excel or Google Sheets.
β’ Familiarity with Claude or AI tools.
β’ Capable of engaging with stakeholders, exercising professional skepticism, maintaining independence, and writing risk-rated reports.
β’ CISA, CIA, or CFE certifications preferred; ACA/ACCA is acceptable when paired with substantial technical product experience and data analytics skills.
