Processing Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kazakhstan.

📋 Description

• Lead Salmon's transition from a vendor-managed SaaS processing model to a licensed, Salmon-owned processing platform.

• Take charge of the entire delivery process from vendor selection to certification and production, beginning with ATM acquiring.

• Become a member of the Acquiring Platform team to establish licensed processing services, starting with Phase 1 ATM acquiring and expanding to POS and e-commerce acquiring.

• Collaborate across the comprehensive integration landscape — processing platform, ATM middleware, HSM/RKL, Visa and BancNet acquiring, anti-fraud measures, core banking, and internal card systems on AWS/EKS.

• Position yourself at the core of acquiring engineering, infrastructure, security, compliance, payment schemes, and external processing vendors.

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of the licensed acquiring processing platform, from scope definition to production readiness.

• Convert business, scheme, compliance, and operational requirements into precise technical specifications, Jira tasks, and documentation.

• Lead the design of API and ISO 8583 integration — including message flows, error handling, reversals, reconciliation, monitoring, and operational procedures.

• Manage the delivery from external providers: scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, acceptance criteria, UAT, certification, and release planning.

• Coordinate developers, QA, infrastructure, security, compliance, and operations from business requests to production releases.

• Assist in incident analysis, ensure production readiness, set up monitoring, and stabilize post-release.

• Maintain the implementation roadmap, critical-path tracking, and decision and risk logs for stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years in roles such as Technical Product Manager, System Analyst, Solution Analyst, or Product Owner within fintech, banking, or payment processing.

• A solid understanding of acquiring, payment processing, the issuer/acquirer/scheme model, and the transaction lifecycle.

• Practical experience with complex system integrations — preferably involving processors, switches, payment networks, HSMs, or ATM/POS/e-commerce acquiring.

• Familiarity with ISO 8583, authorization flows, reversals, reconciliation, clearing and settlement, and certification procedures.

• Experience in designing APIs, integration contracts, sequence flows, operational processes, and technical documentation from the ground up.

• A good grasp of microservices, cloud deployment, databases, monitoring, and release/change management.

• Capability to manage external providers and translate contractual obligations into actionable delivery plans.

• Strong SQL and data analysis capabilities for transaction investigation and validation.

• A proactive, organized, ownership-oriented mindset across product, engineering, compliance, and business teams.

• Proficiency in English at B2 level or higher.
