This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Manage the mid-to-late phases of probate cases, overseeing everything from accounting to file closure.
• Prepare, reconcile, file, and modify estate accountings as necessary.
• Monitor deadlines set by courts and counties.
• Address inquiries from the Register of Wills.
• Facilitate the closure of files efficiently.
• Build and maintain client relationships by providing regular updates and reassurance throughout the probate journey.
• Ensure compliance with court and county deadlines while minimizing the need for corrections.
• Keep case files organized and manage documentation using Clio and Dropbox.
• Collaborate with the on-site Probate Paralegal and attorneys to ensure smooth progression and teamwork on matters.
• Assist the firm in transitioning to Clio Stages by maintaining organized workflows, accurate tracking of matters, and enhancing the client experience.
• Prior paralegal experience is essential.
• Experience in probate is highly preferred.
• Maryland probate experience is advantageous; transferable probate experience from other U.S. jurisdictions will be considered.
• Strong skills in accounting, organization, and communication are required.
• Clio experience is strongly preferred; experience with similar legal case management systems may also be acceptable.
• Familiarity with Dropbox is beneficial, but training can be provided.
• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients throughout lengthy probate timelines.
• Capability to professionally explain technical legal concepts.
• Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail are required.
• Strong mathematical skills and numerical accuracy are critical for preparing and reconciling probate accountings.
• Ability to work independently while being a proactive and communicative team player is essential.
• Must be able to align with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
