This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Deliver advisory services on privacy in relation to Canadian and international laws and frameworks.
• Comprehend, evaluate, and assist in resolving clients' privacy issues with practical, risk-focused solutions.
• Perform Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and privacy risk evaluations for both new and existing programs, technologies, and initiatives.
• Aid clients in designing, implementing, and maintaining privacy management programs, governance frameworks, and operational models.
• Provide counsel on both organizational and technical facets of privacy, including the management of the data lifecycle (collection, use, disclosure, retention, and secure disposal of personal information).
• Create and execute privacy strategies that align with Canadian federal and provincial requirements, while also considering global obligations and best practices.
• Merge privacy with related fields such as AI governance, cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, and digital transformation to offer comprehensive solutions to clients.
• Compose, review, and revise Privacy Impact Assessments.
• Draft, review, and update privacy policies, procedures, notices, and supporting documents.
• Generate practical guidance, tools, and templates customized to client environments and their respective privacy maturity levels.
• Promote privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles in client initiatives, including digital health, research, and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to the innovation, development, and ongoing enhancement of PrivacyWorks methodologies, tools, and service offerings.
• Establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders through effective communication and excellence in delivery.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, including legal, IT, security, program leads, clinicians, and senior management.
• Simplify complex privacy and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations to convey progress, findings, and recommendations.
• Manage and contribute to several client engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Monitor project hours, timelines, and dependencies, proactively identifying and escalating risks or issues.
• Actively support the planning and execution of client work, ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, tools, and best practices.
• Mentor, coach, and assist in the development of team members by sharing knowledge and experience.
• Aid in the growth of individual and team expertise in privacy, data protection, and emerging areas.
• Stay updated on evolving regulatory, business, and economic trends affecting privacy.
• Enhance internal collaboration and contribute to the growth and reputation of PrivacyWorks.
• Bachelor’s degree or a relevant industry-specific diploma in a related area (e.g., privacy, law, information management, public policy, or technology).
• Five (5) years of relevant experience in privacy, data protection, risk management, or a related field.
• CIPP/C certification.
• Additional designations are highly desirable (CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/EU, CIPP/US, CISSP, etc.).
• Formal experience in change management or project management is an asset.
• Experience in artificial intelligence governance is advantageous.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian privacy legislation at both the National and Provincial levels.
• Proven capability to interpret legislation and regulation and apply it to various contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex privacy concepts to non-privacy audiences.
• Established proficiency in conducting Privacy Impact Assessments, including legislative interpretation and risk identification and analysis.
• Familiarity with international privacy laws, including GDPR.
• Proven practical experience in supporting organizations to implement comprehensive privacy and data protection programs, including policy development, drafting Privacy Impact Assessments, and offering tailored privacy advice.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with various client stakeholders, including legal, technical, executive, and administrative personnel.
